May Class Update

Important Dates to Remember:

Friday, May 20th- Field Day

Wednesday, May 25th- Fifth Grade Party

Thursday, May 26th- DARE Graduation at 1:30

Friday, May 27th- Last day of school (HALF DAY)

We have been doing a lot of fun things since testing ended at the beginning of May!  In reading, students participated in a reader's theater play.   Reader's theater is a more relaxed version of a play since students don't have to memorize their lines.  They  designed some background scenery and props, and we performed the plays earlier this week.  The students did a great job!

In writing, we have been writing a variety of poems.  Students are making poetry books to display the different poems they have written.

Last week, students were put in groups and assigned a math topic.  Their job was to create a board game where they had to write math question cards that went with their topic.  They created the board, directions, game pieces, math questions, and an answer key.  We tested them out by having different groups play each others games.  We had some pretty creative game ideas!

In science, we have been researching famous inventors and scientist.  Students have different options to choose how to display the information about the person they are researching.  We will hold a gallery walk next week where students can learn about the different inventors and scientists everyone researched.
